According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church “It is evident from its celebration that the effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. From this fact, Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace: 

• it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation which makes us cry, ‘Abba! Father’;
• it unites us more firmly to Christ;
• it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
• it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;
• it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never be ashamed of the cross. (CCC 1302-1303). 

The Confirmation Ministry team partners with students and their parents for a two-year preparation commitment.  Catechists work with parents in fulfilling their role as the first teachers of the faith to their children.  We know that parents have the biggest impact on the lives of their children, and this responsibility to raise up their children in the faith is a promise that was made at Baptism. We want to be able to help parents to live out this mission and we are here to assist them. 

Faith Formation Parent Sessions are for parents that have children in Elementary Faith Formation, Confirmation Preparation, and St. Mark School – any adult that is interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith and ways to share their faith with their children are invited/encouraged to attend to these presentations. Participation in these evenings is expected for all parents with children in Elementary Faith Formation and Confirmation. 

Parent Sessions are on Wednesday nights from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. The English session is in the St. Mark School Cafetorium and the Spanish session is in the Church.

EL SACRAMENTO DE LA CONFIRMACIÓN EN ST. MARK

Según el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica "De su celebración se desprende que el efecto del sacramento de la Confirmación es la efusión especial del Espíritu Santo, como en otro tiempo se concedió a los apóstoles el día de Pentecostés. A partir de este hecho, la Confirmación produce un aumento y una profundización de la gracia bautismal: 

• nos enraíza más profundamente en la filiación divina que nos hace gritar: "¡Abbá! Padre";
• nos une más firmemente a Cristo;
• aumenta en nosotros los dones del Espíritu Santo;
• hace más perfecto nuestro vínculo con la Iglesia;
• nos da una fuerza especial del Espíritu Santo para difundir y defender la fe con la palabra y la acción como verdaderos testigos de Cristo, para confesar con valentía el nombre de Cristo y no avergonzarnos nunca de la cruz. (CCC 1302-1303). 

El equipo del Ministerio de Confirmación se asocia con los estudiantes y sus padres para un compromiso de preparación de dos años.  Los catequistas trabajan con los padres en el cumplimiento de su papel como los primeros maestros de la fe a sus hijos.  Sabemos que los padres tienen el mayor impacto en la vida de sus hijos, y esta responsabilidad de educar a sus hijos en la fe es una promesa que se hizo en el Bautismo. Queremos ser capaces de ayudar a los padres a vivir esta misión y estamos aquí para ayudarles.

Sesiones de Formación de Fe para PADRES que tienen hijos en la Formación de Fe De Primaria, Preparación para la Confirmación, y de la Escuela de St. Mark - cualquier adulto que esté interesado en aprender más acerca de la fe católica y las formas de compartir su fe con sus hijos están invitados / anímense a participar a estas presentaciones. Padres con niños en la Formación de Fe Primaria y de Confirmación se espera su participación en estas noches.

Las sesiones para padres son los miércoles por la noche de 7:00PM a 8:30PM. La sesión en inglés es en la Cafetorium de la Escuela de St. Mark y la sesión en español es en la Iglesia.
